I am an observational extragalactic astronomer specializing in the multi-wavelength study (spanning from the mid-IR to the FUV) of ionizing-photon escape, ionization structure, and chemical enrichment in low-metallicity star-forming galaxies. I study these mechanisms at high-spatial and -spectral resolution in nearby galaxies, where they can be observed directly and in detail. My research aims to link the production of high-energy photons (e.g., from massive stars, WR stars, high-mass binaries, AGN) to the processes that regulate their escape, including stellar feedback and the multiphase content of the interstellar medium. The combination of HST and JWST spectroscopy with photoionization modeling, allows us to connect the radiation fields of nearby extreme star-forming galaxies with those that reionized the universe.
